Camp

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 7, 2008, 7:47 AM
Well, I'm leaving again in a couple of hours. This time, for Camp Miller! :D Besides the fact that I have to leave all of my friends for weeks on end, I'm really excited! I've always wanted to be a camp councilor at this camp and now I am one! Yay! This week is the staff training and then those little children come pouring in until August 8th! So, if you people out there have nothing to do.. -prod prod- you should go there. ^.^

Anywho, just as a little side note, I'm going to be putting up some pictures of flowers from San Diego that I took at some point this summer, so sorry if you're watching me and suddenly there's all of these notices about them!

Have a good summer everyone!!

Leaving

Journal Entry: Thu May 29, 2008, 4:57 AM
So.. I'm going to go to San Diego, the question at the moment being, will I be going with my parents or by myself? You see, my mom is in the hospital right now because she couldn't stop throwing up. She spent last night there and my dad and I don't know if she's going to be allowed to go anywhere. If she's not, then I will have to go by myself because I have to go, I'm playing my cousin down the aisle! So, by the time most of you people get this, I'll probably be on my way to or in San Diego one way or another. I guess I'll see you all on Monday!!
Later!

Ideas

Hey! I have a favor to ask of people! Where I will be working, at Camp Miller for those of you who haven't heard me talk about it, there are different themes every week (superheros, halloween, disney, jungle, aliens, clue etc). This is the theme a group will have to tailor its games and activities around. For example, if you make a Harry Potter theme week you can designate people to dress up as people form the movie or book, and base your games off of themes in the book or movie. Stuff like that.

In addition to theme weeks, each individual councilor will be responsible for pegs. These are activities we have to create from scratch (unless you do one of the lame regular ones: tower, archery etc). They are roughly 45 mins a day, three days a week. We'll be in charge of say 8-20 campers for this time by ourselves.

It would really really REALLY help me out if people could help me come up with some fun ideas! This is what I've got so far, so if you come up with your own or add/change one of mine, that's totally fine with me!

Themes: (1-15 were sent to me via email, with the exception of #6)
1) Toddler: Make everyone wear depends, crawl around during games (which involves fake pooping to fill up dippers and napping), and baby talking spelling bees.

2) Anti-hygiene: Toilet paper each other, flush games, smell my hand day, have I got something in my teeth?

3) Cowboy and indian: Spaghetti western day, gunslingers, etc.

4) Vintage video game: Dress everyone up as vintage game characters, play pong, centipeade, tetris, etc.

5) Natural disaster: Dress up as lightining bolts, tornados, hurricanes, volcanos, play games involving survival techniques, apocalypse day.

6) Ugly sweater: There could be a Mr Rogers day! xD

7) Future: Dress in costumes of people from the future, weird fashions, funny walks etc. Fortune telling games..

8) Civil war: I have no idea where this one is going..

9) Dr Sues: aka Medical Malpractice..?

10) Fear Factor: Gross games, dares, etc.

11) Old movies: Any old movie works

12) Ice age: Dress up like cavemen and women, club each other, chase the mammoth games, avoid being eaten by the sabertooth tiger..

13) Brown bag: Decorate bags for face masks, fill brown bags up with random stuff, bark, leaves, candy, etc. and hide it all over camp, make the biggest bag of all (try to see how many people you can fit in it), and brown bag soccer (I don't know how this would work but I'm willing to find out)

14) Pop stars: Dress up as Hannah Montana, Back Street Boys, Spice Girls, etc.

15) Holidays: Different holiday each day - Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, St Patricks day, Mardi Gras, etc.

16) Pirates v ninjas: We play pirate and ninja-type games and dress up and have epic battles of piratey ninjaness.

17) Circus: Clown, elephant, lion, tight-rope walker (for this we could play the rope game where the two ropes get farther and farther apart..?) kinda things going on during like a relay or something like that.

18) Around the world..?: (I can think of lots of possibilites but not a real structure for this one)

19) Food: Eat random/gross things, swim in the trash pool, make kids feel different foods and guess what they are.. dress up as food, chefs, waiters, food crtics.

20) Fiesta!: Have a mardi gras, change rules of different games for spanish-type things, salsa (dance or dipping).

21) Underwater: Fishie, fishie, cross my sea, shark attacks, tosses in the lake..?

Pegs: (I only thought of #8-11)
1) Gross peg
2) Outdoor survival
3) Strength (think strongest man competition)
4) Time capsule (have the kids make time capsules and bury them all over camp to look for the next year)
5) Just dirt (anything and everything dirt)
6) Nature (nature walks, etc)
7) Archeological (find stuff burried in camp)
8) Music (have kids get sticks of different lengths, string together and pluck, find out what sound different noises things make, have a little concert or something) - dunno how this would work out, but it'd be interesting!
9) Instead of snow.. (do things you would normally do in the snow, but with other things - dirt, rocks, grass, water, people...)
10) Go with the Flow (do whatever the campers feel like doing, or whatever we have planned)
11) Showdown (play games involving controversy)

Oh! And one more thing.. PRANKS!!
Here're some ideas that the email said, but if you've got some, I wanna know about them!! (I didn't come up with any of these)
1) Steam roll (roll over an unsuspecting sleeping victim and yell steam roll!)
2) Train wreck (like steam roll, but you smack unsuspecting sleeping victim with your pillow and yell TRAIN WRECK!)
3) Yellowpages wakeup (slap unsuspecting sleeping victim with a phone book, and yell Phonebook!)
4) Seaweed sandwich
5) Chocolate syrup squirt gun fights
6) Plunger stomach pictures (plunger someones stomach and take a picture while they wince)
7) Trip up, kneel behind (takes two people, one to kneel behind unsuspecting standing victim, and one to push them over the kneeler)
8)Toothpaste sandels (figure it out)
9) Yucky door handles (nobody likes to go to siesta to find out their door handle is covered in sludge the hard way)
10) Hot sauce drinks (nobody likes hot sauce flavored life water)
11) Random waterballoon fillings (sauce, liquids, hot water, shaving creme, etc) fights

Sooo... yeah! Have fun with it and talk to me if you get an idea! And please remember that it has to be appropriate for kids as young as third-graders!
Thanks a bunch!
